- Ensuring scientific and methodological support of education content modernization;
- Arranging development of the education content;
- Developing educational standards and curricula, and organising their examination;
- Drafting regulations on education;
- Developing professional standards and upgrading skills programs for teaching staff;
- Ensuring scientific and methodological support of teaching by minority languages in Ukraine;
- Ensuring scientific and methodological support of social and educational activities,civic education content, distance learning, implementing information and communication technologies;
- Organising and implementing scientific and methodological and psychological and pedagogical expertise of curricula, textbooks, educational aids and general, educational and special equipment;
- Ensuring organisational and methodological support of professional competitions for teaching staff and principals of educational institutions, classroom contests, and surveys of educational institutions;
- Organizing and implementing scientific and methodological as well as psychological and pedagogical expertise of curricula, textbooks, educational aids and general, educational and special equipment;
- Organizing and conducting educational material competitions;
- Organizing events to raise the professional level both of management and teaching staff of educational institutions;
- Organizing contests, tournaments, intellectual and creative competitions for pupils and students, academic competitions for students, postgraduates and doctors, and professional skill contests among pupils and students; forming teams of pupils and students to participate in international intellectual competitions;
- Coordinating activities of scientific and methodological commissions under the Education Scientific and Methodological Council of MES;
- Coordinating school library activity;
- Providing scientific and methodological as well as practical assistance to establishments, organisations and educational institutions on matters within the competence of the Institute.
